Mother nature has been extremely busy this year. In one of the deadliest series of twisters in almost 4 decades, storms ripped through more than 7 southern states, killed over 350 people and caused unimaginable damage to homes and businesses last month.

After being hit by over 160 powerful tornadoes and violent storms, approximately 200 people lost their lives in Alabama and up

to 1 million people were left without power…making it one of the worst hit states. One of the communities most impacted was the Alabama city of Tuscaloosa where a mile-wide monster twister ripped through the town.

DaisyCares supporters Channing Tatum, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Kay Tatum, Paige Tatum, and the entire Tatum clan have family in Alabama. We wanted to find a way to both help the families and animals impacted by the storms and to show our thanks to the Tatum’s for their ongoing support of our organization.

Thanks to Chan’s mom Kay we learned about the Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter. The shelter has reunited 135 pets with their families, and they are currently housing over 400 storm-related animals. After contacting them, we learned that they were low on supplies like tie-out collars and leashes, paper towels, regular towels, blankets, tarps, packing tape, and more, and we decided to send them care packages full of the needed supplies.

In honor of the Tatum’s, we have sent our first care package to the shelter, and we’ll be sending more supplies very soon. Thanks to Kay for letting us know about this great organization that’s reuniting families and keeping animals alive! We also want to thank our Director of Programs and Marketing, Dayna Robokowski, for working so hard to create the care packages and get them shipped to Alabama quickly!
