Helping Pets Say Healthy
The DaisyCares Veterinary Care Program provides critical financial assistance to help pet owners in crisis access urgent or emergency veterinary treatment. Grants of up to $250 are awarded directly to veterinarians on behalf of qualified individuals or rescue groups—subject to the availability of funds.
Who We Help
Many families today are struggling to afford veterinary care. Our goal is to save pets’ lives while easing the financial burden for their caregivers. We support:
- Low-income households
- Individuals facing medical hardship
- Pet owners experiencing temporary unemployment or homelessness
- Qualified applicants in Bexar County and surrounding areas
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered, applicants must:
- Live in Bexar County, TX or surrounding counties
- Provide proof of income or qualifying circumstance
- Submit a detailed treatment estimate from a licensed veterinarian
- Meet at least one of the following:
- Income at or below 180% of 2024 HHS Poverty Guidelines
- Receiving SSI, disability, Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP
- Unemployed or experiencing extreme medical hardship
We Do Not Fund
Unfortunately, we cannot approve grants for:
- Previously incurred vet bills or reimbursement requests
- Elective or non-essential procedures (e.g., cataract surgery)
- Preventative, routine, or diagnostic care (e.g., vaccines, x-rays)
- Cases without a positive one-year prognosis
- Applicants who haven’t applied for or were approved for Care Credit
- Individuals who have previously received DaisyCares financial aid
Application Process
Apply Online
Complete the Veterinary Care Assistance survey and upload:
- Proof of income/financial hardship
- A veterinary treatment estimate (not exams/testing only)
Notification
You’ll receive a Letter of Commitment or Denial by email.
Note: We cannot proceed without an email address.
Review & Approval
The Grant Committee will assess your application based on:
- Financial qualification
- Ability to pay remaining balance
- Positive prognosis from the treating vet
Funding
Approved grants are paid directly to the veterinarian.
Applicants must agree to share their pet’s story and photo as part of our success stories.
